Delta Dubai Help Stage one of the Biggest Celebrations of all Time.

Delta Sound was proud to have once again been involved with the New Year celebrations in Dubai at the landmark building, the Burj Khalifa. This year’s event also incorporated the Guinness world record fireworks attempt on the Palm Jumeirah and world islands.

Delta Sound were asked to supply the FSK time code distribution for American fireworks company, Grucci. This consisted of a ‘wired’ FSK distribution system controlling the Burj display, alongside a ‘spoken word’ track for the surrounding buildings. These tracks came from an IZ technology radar system, and making sure it fired on time was an Adrem T160 GPS time code receiver. Adrem displays were laid out in the room to keep everyone on time!

Back up for the main playback units came from a MacBook pro with focusrite 6i6 units, all time code linked.

Delta also supplied the FSK distribution and communications for the world island and palm firework displays for Grucci. This consisted of four Motorola GR900 transmitters sending time code across Dubai and the islands. Delta’s team of communications engineers put in an extensive Clear Com network, using the median as a central point. They had Clear Com panels in the Atlantis Hotel, which linked to floor 112 of the Burj Khalifa as well as many locations round the Emaar property. Main OB feeds were sent from the Burj Khalifa to the broadcasting site on the crescent of the palm via Ubiquiti M5 titanium wireless units and Ubiquiti 34dbi units.

Separate playback and GPS units were used to feed audio and FSK across to the islands, this gave Delta Sound the ability to offset the shows if needed (and it was). Everything from the 250 radios, to the matrix system, to the audio distribution across the 200 square miles that the event occupied worked absolutely flawlessly. As the actual show was seen and heard by millions of very expectant viewers, Delta Sound is very proud to say that they have been a part of it. Add to this the complexity of the setup, and the fact that the world record was smashed, the event will surely go down in history both for Delta Sound and for Fireworks by Grucci. A truly amazing start to what will hopefully be a fantastic 2014 for all involved.
