Lighting, Audio, Fashion at London Fashion Week

DeltaLive recently provided the lighting and audio for two fashion shows during London Fashion Week at 10-11 Carlton House Terrace. The brief was to provide unique lighting for both shows, while also ensuring that the models and the clothes they were wearing were, excuse the pun, shown in the best light.

Lighting

For the Jiri Kalfar show the lighting needed to be remotely monitored while being easily adjustable. To achieve this, DeltaLive provided 13 LED soft diffusion lighting panels across The Gallery and The Music Room. We reflected eight of these off the ceiling to fill the rooms with 10k lighting. The remaining five were positioned at key points along the runway to give even light to the front of the models faces and bodies. We also provided spotlighting to 10 backstage makeup stations in The Mall Room.

The challenge: as guests entered the room, all of the lighting panels needed to be dimmed. Then just before the show started, brought up to full brightness for impact. For this we suggested and provided a compact lighting desk and wireless DMX links for control of all the lights at once, without having to run cable across any guest paths or, more importantly, the model runway.

We also provided the impactful pink and purple LED uplighters for the after party.

For the Simon Mo show we positioned the lighting in a way that provided a shadow framing around the doorway and model entrance to the space. This gave the photographer an excellent backdrop for his pictures. To do this we provided LED soft diffusion lighting panels in the space. These were positioned in each corner to give an even distribution of light to the room, props and models. We also provided spotlighting to 10 backstage makeup stations in The Mall Room.

Audio

DeltaLive provided the audio equipment for the Jiri Kalfar show. Placed across both spaces, The Gallery and The Music Room. As well as the full DJ set up for the show and the after party in The Music Room. To facilitate this, we provided an NXS2 CDJs and mixer, DJ booth, compact audio mixing console and full-range and sub-bass loudspeakers.

“The shows were both a great success. It’s always exciting to see the space before then during an event and how it evolves as the audience and models fill the rooms. Both the lighting and the audio play an important role in facilitating the impact of a fashion show. It also helps that 10-11 Carlton House Terrace is a spectacular Grade I listed building, an ideal location for London Fashion Week.” Josh Hewitt, Project Manager, DeltaLive.
