[leadDelta Sound was once again contracted by Emaar Properties to supply communications and time code distribution to numerous event sites across Dubai including the Burj Khalifa for the New Year’s Eve Fireworks Display][/lead]

The main difference for the 2014/ 2015 event was the requirement for full radio coverage throughout the internal areas of the Burj Khalifa, along with the external areas of the tower and outlying pyrotechnic sites. Additionally, timecode receiver sites were all within 3km of the tower (last year this distance was over 30km due to the firework display world record attempt over The World and The Palm islands).

“Planning for the event started back in October, as radios needed to be ready earlier to facilitate the L.E.D screen build.  Setup and internal patching was made considerably easier with the help of the building’s IT and facility management teams who were a great help throughout”  Explains Senior Engineer Robert Turner.
This year’s equipment was supplied by Delta Sound who undertook a unique approach to system configuration and new ways of servicing our client’s requests. Similar to last year however, Delta Sound was running a full backup system, which included the GPS units, mixing desks, transmitters and power supplies.

“You can never be too sure if a piece of kit may fail during the night, so full redundancy was the only way to make sure we were covered. As it turns out, the event went off without a hitch!” Closes
