Virgin Media, be the fastest

Delta provided full audio and communications for the premier of Virgin Media’s latest advertisement campaign.

Precise timing and execution had to be implemented as 16 engineers had 30 minutes to each rig a London Eye capsule with an L-Acoustics stereo loudspeaker PA and RF system. High powered IEM transmitters sent audio to the capsules while an Ovation playback sequencer received a GPS timecode.

Using GSP timecodes in several locations provided the solution to lock-in and synchronise lighting, audio and video, which was highlighted as one of the most challenging tasks.

Across the River Thames floated a 100m-long LED screen that showcased Usain Bolt in a three-minute film that centred around the concept of speed and the fastest man of all time, Bolt. Radio communication provided a link between the London Eye Control Pier, the barge, the helicopter pilot and camera man.
