Meet Olly, Live Sound Engineer

Olly joined DeltaLive earlier in the year and is part of the dedicated team who look after the Roundhouse in Camden, London.

As a Live Sound Engineer Olly is responsible for ensuring that audio equipment is correctly installed and operated at the Roundhouse. DeltaLive were appointed as the in-house sound suppliers to the Roundhouse earlier in the year, and Olly is part of the team who ensure that we’re able to offer full dedicated support to this unique, live venue.

Olly joined the team with some excellent experience behind him, including having worked for Facebook London, the Barbican and Sage Gateshead, as well as doing a lot of freelance work too. He wanted to work at DeltaLive because of “the prestigious events and venues we work in.” Over the last year this has included, along with the shows at the Roundhouse, the BBC Proms, D-Day 75th Commemorations and London New Year’s Eve fireworks display, just to name a few.

When he’s not behind a mixing desk he can be found riding anything with two wheels and would most like to max-out his credit card in a Triumph showroom! Olly recently cycled in the Ride London 100 and if, according to him, he ever competed in the Olympics, it would be in track cycling.

As a company, DeltaLive has always invested in people and skills over the last 30 years. After all it’s the people who deliver the shows. So, it’s really great to have Olly and his experience onboard.

As an audience member we know that you’re not always focussed on who’s operating the front of house desk. So, here are a few fun facts about who Olly is, the man behind the beard (and Digico Desk).

His favourite song is Africa by Toto. If he could learn to do anything, it would be to speak a new language. And something people never expect of him, is that he used to work for the Ministry of Defence!

We don’t have a canteen in the office, but we do have a garden. Sadly, for Olly, it doesn’t (yet?) grow avocados. Because if he had to eat one meal a day, every day for the rest of his life, it would be cottage cheese and avocado.

The best piece of advice he’s ever been given was to never say no to an opportunity.

Finally, if he had to delete all but three apps from his phone, he would keep Google Maps, Weather and Spotify.

Next time you’re at the Roundhouse, give the man behind the Digico desk with a beard a wave.
