“I really enjoy the welcoming, friendly team who support and encourage you to develop and grow. Everyone has a great deal of experience in their respective fields. It’s such an interesting company and I love the variety of work that we do.” Serene spends a lot of time working with numbers, which she loves, along with doing the reconciliations and budget planning. She’s very passionate about what she does, which is really great for us!

Serene did her due diligence when answering her Meet the Team questions, having confided that as a Mum it had been a while since she’d answered questions that were only about her. So, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that she values integrity, kindness and diligence above all else.

When asked what her top three podcasts or books are, Serene said: “I love book series’ more than reading individual books – DragonLance, Harry Potter and The Discworld series written by Terry Pratchet. So, as you can tell, I love books that have magic and dragons in them.

Here are a few more things that you probably didn’t know about Serene.

What is something people would never expect of you? People are often surprised when they discover that I have tattoos, I’m not sure why.

What is the best gift that you’ve ever received? It’s the old cliché that the best gift I have is my family – my husband (of 21 years) and our three-year-old little girl, who keeps us on our toes.

What is the nerdiest thing you do in your spare time? Knitting, although I don’t really have spare time anymore, but love knitting. I find it relaxing and it’s wonderful to create something yourself.

Can you play any instruments? I played piano when I was in school, but never kept it up. I can still read music (slowly) and play a little piano. I really want to learn to play the guitar and the drums.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work? I would love to volunteer at an animal shelter, walking dogs. But at the moment I don’t have the time as we have a three-year-old(!) Hopefully when she’s a bit bigger we can volunteer together.

When not at work, Serene enjoys long walks on the beach… well she might, but you’ll find her spending time with her family, her husband and little girl. Whether it’s walking in the woods, shopping, swimming or building Lego. “We also enjoy watching rugby, cricket and the moto GP.”
