Walkie-Talkie Radios for the NHS

DeltaLive has proudly delivered Motorola walkie-talkie radios to four NHS hospitals in London. As communications specialists we usually work in the live events, sporting, film and TV industries. But, due to the Coronavirus all of this work has been cancelled. This meant that we have our stock of over 500 Motorola walkie-talkie radios sitting in our warehouse, available to be used. What a privilege to be able to put this equipment to use by helping the NHS.

Homerton University Hospital, University Hospital Lewisham, Croydon University Hospital and St Bartholomew’s Hospital are the first four hospitals to take up our offer. The walkie-talkie radios are used to communicate between the Intensive Care Unit teams.

An ICU consultant from University Hospital Lewisham took time out of his busy day to say thank you and give further insight. “I can’t tell you how grateful we are for your help. Lewisham has been one of the hardest hit hospitals in the UK so far. In 10 days we have admitted over 50 patients into our Intensive Care Unit who needed a ventilator. Normally it would be 15. We have done this with less doctors, less nurses and less support staff because of illness. Everyone has pulled together to care for our community and I am so proud of all of them and all the help we have received from other hospital teams and our volunteers.”

“As the NHS continues to work away tirelessly to battle the Coronavirus, we were incredibly proud to ‘do our bit’. Being able to provide walkie-talkie radios to aid communications to the ICU’s at four London-based hospitals. We hope that more hospitals will take up our offer” said Mark Bonner, Director at DeltaLive.

“Personally, I’d really like to thank our Transport Manager, Gavin and Communications System Consultant, Phil for stepping up to enable the radios to be prepped and delivered. Having a team, who you know that in a time of crisis are prepared to step up to the plate, really highlights the phenomenal backbone of DeltaLive. Of course, our thoughts and best wishes go out to all of the NHS and front-line staff who are working so very hard to do their best in such trying times. Thank you. And, of course to everyone who is suffering due to the Coronavirus COVID-19.”
