Wavepaths & L-ISA

A radical new approach to Mental wellbeing.

66% of patients with depression remain symptomatic. 33% of patients do not respond to any treatment. Treatment efficacy has not improved in 70 years.

We find ourselves in a global crisis with 39% of the European population alone suffering from mental health problems each year. Global costs for mental illness were €2.2 trillion in 2010, and this is projected to increase to €5.4 trillion by 2030.

During his academic career at Imperial College London, Wavepaths founder & CEO Mendel Kaelen PhD conducted extensive neuroscientific research on psychedelic therapy. An emerging paradigm demonstrating the use of psychedelics as a safe and effective tool in treating depression, addiction and trauma.

In his research, Kaelen demonstrated the essential role of music in facilitating these sustained therapeutic improvements and developed a new vision for the future of mental health care. Since 2014, he has published 30 academic papers building on these insights and has been referenced to in 1,366 reports.

Wavepaths unifies music, light, architecture, neuroscience, psychotherapeutic methods and intelligent technologies into an accessible, engaging and evidence-based framework that facilitates the experience as medicine. The therapeutic potential of music, art and architecture is harnessed with a combination of intelligent technologies and psychotherapeutic techniques, to facilitate personally meaningful experiences that improve mental health and wellbeing.

Through collaborations with world-class artists such as, Brian Eno, Jon Hopkins and technologists Wavepaths creates an entirely new “Adaptive Generative Environment”, a computational system that responds to your emotional and physiological states, providing you with a unique and highly personalized experience every time.

Paul Keating, managing director of DeltaLive commented: “It’s been a really rewarding project to have been involved with. To create this environment, we worked with Mendel and his team to come up with a design, utilising the revolutionary L-ISA technology to create a completely immersive experience within the pod.

With DeltaLive’s extensive experience using L-ISA technologies we installed a total of 23, L-Acoustics 5XT speakers along with one 18” subwoofer. The L-ISA processor dealt with the OSC interfacing to the intelligent hardware technologies which operates for twelve hours a day, day in day out”

“Mendel kindly let me have a personal session after what had been a somewhat long, stressful day. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I have to say the experience went way beyond anything I thought it was going to be. The only way I can describe it was like some form of an out of body experience. Not merely just being comfortable and listening to a relaxing soundtrack for 60 minutes.

In the area of mental health wellbeing, I can really see how the Wathpaths experience could really be beneficial for users.” Look forward to being part of the roll out plan for Wavepath facilities globally.”
