Prudential Ride London is the largest festival of cycling in the world
Staged for the first time in August 2013, this year 100,000 participants were expected to cycle more than three million miles during the weekend of the 30th of July 2016.
More than £12 million was raised in 2015, a record for a UK one-day cycling event, bringing the total raised for charity in the first three years of the event to more than £29 million.
For the event this year, Delta were asked to increase their scope of services. The challenge was to come up with a communications solutions to replace a plane that had previously provided radio coverage across the race route in surrey. This was achieved by introducing a new vertical network from multiple sites which were located from central London to Box Hill in Surrey.
Additionally Delta was asked to provide a course-wide radio system for the escort cars and bikes along the entire race route, which required installing additional network radio sites within London and Surrey.
On race day itself there were 12 site positions and 700 hand portables in service.
