Abu Dhabi Festival

Public events, Abu Dhabi

Building on the vision of Festival Founder and Director, H.E. Mrs. Hoda Al Khamis Kanoo, the Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation presented its 12th edition of the Abu Dhabi Festival in March. It continues to support the cultivation of arts and culture in the UAE, offering opportunities to witness some of the world’s greatest classical artists in its main concert programme as well as delivering an education and community schedule designed to engage young minds across the Emirates.

Having supported the Festival for 7 years, since 2008 when the company first opened its doors in the UAE, Delta Sound is proud to have been once again involved with the Festival as a preferred technical supplier.

The main programme of Abu Dhabi Festival 2015 included Brazilian artist Sérgio Mendes as well as the Budapest Festival Orchestra’s production of Mozart’s The Magic Flute, directed and conducted by Iván Fischer. When Music Matters marked the end of the Festival with Mayssa Karaa headlining the finale with a dazzling performance featuring an all-star line-up of award-winning musicians.

It’s not only the main programme that Delta Sound prides itself in being part of, it’s also the diverse range of education events throughout the UAE that opens up the chance for the community to become involved with the Festival.

This year saw stunning encounters with the Chicago Shakespeare Theater performing Othello: The Remix, The Ministry of Science Live! a mini-show introducing children to pocket-sized science; and performances from Sydney Opera House’s Meeting Mozart.

All this took place among a programme of traditional dance, theatre, music, literature and film, not forgetting the celebration of Earth Hour with workshops from the Nutty Scientist.
