The annual HIPA (H.H Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum`s International Photography Awards) now in its fourth season delivered their ceremony for excellence in photography at the Gate in DIFC.

Delta Sound have had experience with the award ceremony from previous years, however this was the first time we worked with production agency Auditoire, who recently opened their office in the Emirate. Delta Sound were contracted to work alongside the agency’s designers to deliver the complete audio solution to the event. As well as supplying PA and control systems to the main event an extensive amount equipment was supplied for use during the post awards entertainment.

For the awards evening the system was split into two. 2 hangs of L-Acoustics KARA provided speech reinforcement whilst an additional two hangs of K2 loudspeakers were used for the hi-level playback of the show.  The complete system was driven using LA-RAKs, controlled via the L-Acoustics Network Manager software. Mixed using the DiGiCo SD5 with 2 SD-Racks and delivering AES outputs to the amplification racks over the HMA fibre network kept the signal digital from console to amp.

The “post-awards” stage was mixed using the powerful yet compact DiGiCo SD11. The entertainment featured roaming musicians, a large drum ensemble, DJs and a jazz band.

Also making a large impact on the evening were the communications department at Delta Sound; an extensive network of Clearcom Helixnet and Tempest units held the show together whilst interfacing with television broadcast.
