London New Year’s Eve: Behind the Scenes
New Year’s Eve is a busy time at DeltaLive. By today we’ve rigged and deployed our Comms trucks, configured the sound, flown the speakers, laid more metres of cable than you’d believe and have spent many an hour on the top of a London building. All of this is in preparation for the London New Year’s Eve Fireworks extravaganza.
As we prepare to celebrate the new year and decade it brings with it, we thought we’d give you a behind the scenes look into what takes place at DeltaLive HQ, in advance of the London New Year’s Eve Fireworks.
DeltaLive was tasked by our client, Jack Morton Worldwide, to provide both the Comms and Audio for this celebrated occasion.
On the Comms side, prep started at the beginning of December with a team of ten. Lead by Phil Kidd who revealed that this will be his 16th year working on the project. Phil notes that “part of the prep excitement is being up on the roof tops, getting to see London from above. You get a really unique perspective of our great capital, although it is a bit chilly!” The Comms we are supplying this evening comprises radios, networking, microwave and high-power UHF links, CCTV and matrix communications, .
The Audio team, which includes our experienced sound designers, have also been working hard. Both in the warehouse and locations around central London. Using a selection of the best equipment, including L-Acousitics speakers and DiGiCo FOH desks, the team ensure that everyone attending the fireworks celebration this evening will be able to clearly hear every word, every note and every one of Big Ben’s chimes at midnight. We know that top quality sound elevates a performance making it a night to remember.
