X Factor 2019
Having worked on the X Factor for 16 years now, DeltaLive are well versed in what it takes to be a part of the team that gives this show its star quality. Excitingly, 2019 saw two new formats added, namely X Factor: Celebrity and X Factor: The Band.
We take a look below at what this entails, getting down to the nitty-gritty. With all the different elements and co-ordination required, for both the live shows and auditions, it’s obvious why our experience matters.
X Factor: Celebrity
This was a live weekly studio format taking place over six weeks within the LH2 Studios in London.
DeltaLive supplied the fold-back monitor control elements for the show. This comprised of performance consoles, speaker systems, radio microphones and IEMs (In Ear Monitors) for all the show contestants. Along with the equipment elements, engineering and radio frequency coordination.
The loudspeaker components of the monitor system featured L-Acoustics ARCII elements for side-fills, X12 floor wedges and LA8 amplification for both. The Constant and Guest Artist consoles this year centred around two Digico SD5 surfaces and SD-Rack infrastructure.
The Shure Axient Digital wireless microphone system was used as the in-house production supplied radio mic solution for performances.
For the IEM system, DeltaLive supplied Sennheiser SR2050 IEM transmitters and EK2000 receivers as standard.
The studio phase utilised approximately 100+ radio frequencies for performance mics and IEM’s. The overall site was closely monitored during our tenancy.
Additional Sennheiser EM 3732-II receivers for all other parts of our programme were also utilised. These were not dedicated to the performance specification for our programme.
The studio playback requirements were facilitated via VSSLTD, who advised on the format of tracks supplied, redundant six-channel Spot-On playback systems to handle playback of Gramms content and an Avid Pro-Tools system for off-line editing of tracks to then be ingested for play-out via the Spot-On systems.

X Factor: The Band
On the heels of the Celebrity show, DeltaLive moved on to World Resorts Arena in Birmingham to begin production of X-Factor: The Band. This took place over a two-week period and comprised recorded auditions for the first week, ending with a live Final transmission.
The core monitor system elements and crew of the Celebrity series were carried over and put into place for ‘The Band’. Additional sets of IEM systems were added to accommodate the expanded Contestants and Guest Artist performance requirements.
DeltaLive were also contracted to supply the audience PA system and associated crew for ‘The Band’. This system utilised L-Acoustics K2, KARA, ARCS II and X12 loudspeaker elements along with combinations of LA8 and LA12X amplifiers to power the system.
